Housewarming in interesting times

Welcome to the new home.

As I write this, the sun's setting on a perfect Adelaide spring day and the jasmine and banksia roses have been coaxed into bloom by the warmth of the sun. As ever, the house needs vacuuming. The inaugural Prime Minister's Literary Award for fiction has just been won by a novelist I'd never heard of till yesterday. There's more new chaos in the NSW government. Galveston is being washed away as we speak by a hurricane as big as Texas, there are elections coming up in the US and New Zealand, the US equivalent of Pauline Hanson has a realistic chance of becoming the most powerful person in the world, and any minute we might all be sucked into a black hole.

Time for a new blog. I'll go and open the champagne.

Ditto for Melbourne, although "perfect" might be stretching it given the strength of the north-nor'westerly. And in my garden this evening it's the scent jasmine and port wine magnolia, not jasmine and banksia.

Otherwise, am I the first to post a comment on the new blog? If so, let joy be unconfined! I'll take the rest of the week off to celebrate.

Wow, that was quick! You are indeed the first, Anthony, and welcome. Don't mind me while I tweak the colours and fonts and pix and so on.

Phew, I'm glad you kept the 'Pavlov' bit for your handle. I don't know if I could have coped with calling you 'SLWC' or 'SL[e]W Cat'. Still, nice bit of spring-cleaning, I must say. Good on you. now I just have to work out how to change you on Bloglines.

Oh my. Awesome housewarming present there, 3C.

Sparkling red for all? I know there's a box of champers flutes somewhere in one of these tea chests.

Hey, nice new digs!

I'm already squiffy, so I'll just have the sparkling mineral water thanks.

Cheers to the Chat Feroce!

На здоровье!

And as to the sign: I have one on my ’fridge that says, “CHAT LUNATIQUE”. In my cat's case, I think it suits.

Congrats on the new location. Yesterday was a perfect spring day here, and today is even better because the rain is bucketing down on the garden.

Spring has sprung, out with the old and in with the more suitable. Congratulations on your move!

Got a horrible fright for a mo...then found the two most important words in English - "over here." And over there I shall.

Can I use your loo?

In cyberspace no-one can hear you tinkle.

No, I can't believe I just said that either.
