Go and have a look at this lovely piece by Tim Dunlop for the ABC's The Drum on the achievements of Tony Abbott, including discussion of the Budgie's 'unconventional approach to policy' and his 'malleable approach to straightforwardness'.
The comments thread, featuring character analyses of Kevin 'Mugabe' Rudd and Tim 'Red to the Core' Dunlop himself, is also good for a laugh, but is not for the faint-hearted.
In which the pond has to cut to the chase, because 11 minutes of bromancer,
5 minutes of Ughmann, and to cap it all off, 11 minutes of "Ned" with the
crazy grazier ...

Enough already with the surveys of the hive mind, with dubious links the
pond is never certain anyone clicks on.
Enough with links to all the reptiles...

Good stuff. I love a bit of satire myself, especially when it alerts us to a certain 'emotional truth'.
To be honest, I think that Abbott's interest in sport is his one redeeming feature. Every time I read something slagging him off for that, I get a bit shitty. I mean, I have no trouble finding the things that he _says_ really fucking annoying.
Heh.
